Working as cabin crew has some tough parts that don’t always get talked about. Here is what you should know:
Unpredictable schedules - Flights run at all hours, so your work schedule can be all over the place. This can mess with your sleep and makes it hard to stick to any kind of routine.
Physical fatigue - You are on your feet for many hours, handling heavy items, and working in tight spaces. After a while, this can take a toll on your body.
Emotional stress - Dealing with all kinds of passengers - upset, demanding - requires patience and a lot of emotional energy. Staying calm and professional can be tiring, especially on rough days.
Health impacts - Constantly changing time zones leads to jet lag. The dry air in the cabin can also cause dehydration, and being around so many people means getting exposed to more germs.
Missing out at home - Being away a lot can make it hard to keep up with family and friends, and you might miss important events.
These are some of the harder parts of being cabin crew that people don’t talk about much. If you have dealt with anything like this, or if there is something else people should know, jump in and share! What’s been the toughest part for you?
