Flybe is cutting 30 routes next year including 14 services which operate only during the summer.
The regional carrier said it had “reconfigured” its route network for 2014 which will see Flybe operate 150 routes for next summer’s season which runs from March 30 to October 25.

Flybe announced last month that it will close six of its UK bases (Aberdeen, Guernsey, Inverness, Isle of Man, Jersey and Newcastle) as part of plans to make a further 500 redundancies.

Year-round services to be cut include Belfast City, East Midlands, Cardiff and Glasgow to Paris Charles de Gaulle, Exeter-Newcastle, Glasgow-Shannon and Leeds Bradford-Southampton.

Another 14 seasonal summer routes will also be axed including Exeter and Southampton to Barcelona, Bristol-Isle of Man, Edinburgh-Knock and Newquay-Norwich.

Flybe had already announced the end of all six services from Gatwick from March 30, 2014, after the airline sold all of its slots at the airport to Easyjet.

Paul Simmons, Flybe’s chief commercial officer, said: “We recently announced that we would be reconfiguring our route network as part of a carefully planned strategy to optimise our operations.

“We have since taken a long hard look at all the routes we fly to make sure that our new schedule is what our customers really want and that they operate at the best possible times for everyone.”

“The extent of our confirmed regional network, with more than 150 routes on sale for next summer, means that no other airline has the regional and onward international connectivity offered by Flybe.”
